From Share Buyback to Launching New Models – BMW Creating Value for Stakeholders

BMW AG shareholders have approved share buyback program. Under the program, BMW AG will repurchase shares worth up to €2 billion. Repurchased shares will be cancelled, and the existing capital structure will be reduced accordingly. Share Buyback scheme has been approved at the company’s Annual General Meeting in May 2022.

Buyback scheme is intending to reduce up to 10% of the share capital within next five years. Under the first phase of scheme, €2 billion of buyback is set to start in July 2022 and  will end by December 2023.

Despite global chip shortages, During 2021, Company’s revenues amounted to € 111.2 billion and PBT stood at € 16.1 billion.

 According  to the BMW AG management, Company has the financial strength and robust liquidity to carry out the scheme. Company has a reliable dividend policy, and the share buyback programme will further help in increase the earnings per share. Share buybacks will create value for BMW’s shareholders. Company has plans to fund the growth and investment of the group from its operating cash flow

On the production front, BMW is launching new model to boost sales. Production of the all-new BMW 7 and all-electric i7 luxury sedans has officially begun at Dingolfing plant. In order to prepare the Dingolfing vehicle plant for the manufacturing of the new BMW 7 Series, Group has committed more than €300 million.

MW 7 Series is the first luxury sedan in the world to offer customers a choice between three types of drive i.e. fully electric, combustion-powered or plug-in hybrid

BMW has a vision of production for the future. Its fully functional version of future production process will be   Lean, Green and Digital. BMW Group has 31 global production sites and Company’s Dingolfing Plant is largest European manufacturing facility which is being transformed into a BMW iFACTORY practising the ‘Lean, Green, Digital’ approach.
