The Houthis have turned down an invitation from the Gulf Cooperation Council’s six members to join talks on the Yemen situation in Riyadh beginning March 29. Saudi Arabia has been leading a military coalition in Yemen since 2014, fighting the Huthis in a violent struggle. Saudi Arabia is trying to keep the globally recognised administration in power. Thousands of people have died, either directly or indirectly, as a result of the war in Yemen, which the UN has described as the world’s worst humanitarian disaster.

The terrorist strike carried out by the Houthi militia, which used ballistic missiles and drones to target economic and civilian institutions in numerous parts of Saudi Arabia, was strongly  condemned  by Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

The continuing of the terrorist Houthi militia in carrying out these hostile acts against key locations in Saudi Arabia, according to Aboul Gheit, indicates the Houthis’ rejection of peace attempts once again.

Aboul Gheit  further said that the attack is a flagrant violation of the UN Security Council’s resolutions. He expressed his deep concern about the ramifications of Houthi hostilities continuing. The international community is failing to act quickly and decisively to stop the dangerous escalation.

The Secretary General of the Arab League reaffirmed the Arab League’s support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all its efforts to combat terrorist actions and maintain its stability and security.

United States has condemned the Attack.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan stated  that the US condemns Houthi strikes on Saudi civilian facilities and urged the Houthis to work with the UN to deescalate the war. The Houthis are aided in their terrorist activities by Iran, which provides them with missile and UAV components, as well as training and experience. This is done in defiance of UN Security Council resolutions forbidding arms imports into Yemen.
