PepsiCo Partners with Schneider Electric – Intending to Accelerate Adoption of Renewable Energy Across Value Chain Partners

  • Project will be known as pep+ Renew Program
  • Project will accelerate transition of Value Chain Partners towards renewable energy through power purchase agreements (PPAs)
  • PepsiCo is committed to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040

PepsiCo is committed to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040. In order to achieve its vision PepsiCo has partnered with Schneider Electric for promotion and Adoption of Renewable Electricity Among its Value Chain Partners at an accelerated space. Project will be known as pep+ REnew  and program will be one of its kind collaboration in the food and beverage industry for increasing adoption of renewable electricity amongst its value chain partner.

pep+ stands for PepsiCo Positive transformation i.e.  Pepsi Co initiative to bring positive transformation related to environment and society. As part of PepsiCo’s pep+ (PepsiCo Positive) transformation, the alliance aims to accelerate the adoption of renewable electricity and develop a more resilient and carbon-efficient food chain.

pep+ REnew was created with two objectives in mind. These objectives include educating PepsiCo’s value chain partners about renewable energy possibilities and accelerating the transition to renewable energy through aggregate power purchase agreements (PPAs) and other renewable energy procurement options.

When it comes to participating in the renewable electricity market, small and medium businesses encounter a variety of obstacles. Many organisations may not be large enough to engage on their own and may require instruction or support to manage the complexities of power purchase agreements (PPA). Through pep+ REnew, PepsiCo and Schneider Electric will overcome these obstacles.

PepsiCo is inviting a diverse range of value chain partners to apply to be a part of the first pep+ REnew cohort. By the end of 2022, the intention is to finalise a first buyer’s cohort for an aggregate PPA.

In 2021, PepsiCo had a net revenue of more than $79 billion. Consumers in more than 200 nations and territories around the world enjoy its products more than one billion times every day.

Schneider Electric is the world’s largest provider of digital transformation services. It is working to integrate process and energy technologies and has produced products such as end-point to cloud connecting devices, software, and services for homes, buildings, data centres, infrastructure, and industries, allowing for integrated business management.

Schneider Electric has assembled a team of leading renewable energy professionals to help suppliers proceed toward aggregated renewable energy purchasing through a multi-phase education and project selection process.

Schneider Electric has assisted firms such as PepsiCo on over 150 utility-scale PPA purchases totaling over 11,000 megawatts of wind and solar electricity spanning North America, Europe, India, Australia, and Latin America.

pep+ REnew programme will be powered by Schneider’s NEO Network platform which is a worldwide collaboration platform meant to expedite renewable electricity decision-making and decarbonization.
